Burning OZ

How burning OZ works on Ozmium - sending to the dead address, what The Density Ladder ranks, and how burned value counts toward prop desk standing.

Burning sends OZ to the dead address, 0x000000000000000000000000000000000000dEaD. Nobody holds the key to that address, so anything sent there is permanently out of supply.

How to Burn

Connect a wallet, choose an amount, and sign. Your burned total updates straight from chain state rather than from anything Ozmium stores, so it is the same number anyone else reading the chain would compute.

Agents can build the transaction with POST /v1/tx/burn.

The Density Ladder

Burning ranks your wallet on The Density Ladder, a public ranking derived from onchain burns. It is not a leaderboard Ozmium maintains and could adjust; it is a view of what the chain already says.

Burning Is Not Only a Sacrifice

Burned value counts toward prop desk standing in two ways.

It counts toward the $500 combined hold, burned, and sent threshold that qualifies a wallet in the first place. And once you are inside, your allotment - the cap on size and leverage for each prop action - scales with lifetime OZ burned alongside your onchain trading record.

So burning is not purely destructive from your side of it. It converts supply into standing.

What Burning Does to Supply

OZ has a fixed maximum of 100,000,000,000 and no minting path beyond it, so supply only moves in one direction. As of July 28, 2026, 378,321,070 OZ has been burned, which is 0.378 percent of supply.

How fast that number grows is up to holders. There is no emission schedule and no burn schedule, because neither exists to promise.
